Walter’s got all his gear ready, and he’s excited to join the Winter Fishing Tournament with all the other farmers. He’s hoping that you have your rods and tackles primed for the competition as it is going to be a tough one. Be a part of the tournament by building the Fishing Tournament Shack and Tournament Fishing Spot on your farm. Compete for the top spot as well as challenge yourself to beat your own personal score to win an adorable baby Grey Curly Chinchilla, Amber Shovel, and Trophies!
If you are level 15 or higher, the “The Winter Fishing Tournament!” popup will appear. Click on the “Place Building” button to begin the feature.
To start building the shack and fishing spot, you must first collect all the materials you need.
Next, ask your friends to give you a hand with the construction or hire some Builders.
The finished Fishing Tournament Shack, which you can place anywhere in your farm, will look like this:
And the finished Tournament Fishing Spot, which is automatically placed in the river, will look like this:
For the tournament, there are four types of fish that you’ll be catching: Cod, Salmon, Pike, and Sturgeon. Each of these fish belong to a different weight category.
Groundbait
The different areas of the river must first be prepared with Groundbait before you can proceed to fish. Click on the Prep Area button to see how to use Groundbait.
You can get Groundbait through crafting. There are 3 types of Groundbait that you can craft and each type will help you catch a specific number of fish: Catch 3 Fish using Premium Groundbait, catch 2 Fish using Special Groundbait, and catch 1 Fish using Basic Groundbait.
Click the Make button if you have all the ingredients you need to make the Groundbait of your choice. If you are in need of ingredients, here's how they can be obtained:
For the Bait, you can harvest fertilized water crops. Winged Beans can be obtained through planting and harvesting. For the Multi Jointed Jerkbait, and Dried Cricket, you can ask friends for help or buy them using Farm Bucks.
Crafting the Groundbait will take a specific number of hours. Please take note that each fishing area differs in the amount of time it takes to craft the Groundbait.
While waiting for the Groundbait to be crafted, you can prepare another fishing area.
Once the Groundbait is crafted, click on the Go Fishing button to begin catching fish.
Tournament Point Score
You have prepared the area using a Premium Groundbait so you were able to catch 3 fish. These fish will be weighed to get the total Tournament Point score.
Keep track of how many Tournament Points you have earned by checking the counter in the lower-left corner of the menu.
Continue fishing to earn more Tournament Points to fill up the milestone meter, and you’ll get rewards when you reach specific milestones. The yellow bar will mark your progress.
Winter Fishing Tournament
Once you get a score of 30 Tournament Points, you are qualified to join the Winter Fishing Tournament!
The Scoreboard will also be shown in the upper-left corner of the menu. The Scoreboard shows the top three players in the tournament. Click on the View More button to see more details.
The overall ranking of farmers competing in the tournament is shown on the left portion of the Scoreboard. The top three farmers at the end of the tournament will get rewards.
Your personal score is shown on the right side of the Scoreboard. In the list, you will see the points you’ve earned for each type of fish you caught in the tournament. Get the highest points for each fish to win rewards!
Ragworms
You can boost the areas you are fishing in by using Ragworms.
Ragworms can attract larger fish so you can earn more points. Click on the Boost button to see how Ragworms work.
There are three kinds of Ragworms that you can use to boost an area: Ragworm, Mud Ragworm, and King Ragworm. Ragworm can add up to 4 Tournament Points, while Mud Ragworm can increase your Tournament Points by up to 5.The King Ragworm is most useful as it will add up to 8 Tournament Points and give you extra 3 Weight Points in the Leaderboard Score.
Ragworms last for only 24 hours so use them wisely. Also, take note that you can boost an area only once.
If you are using the King Ragworms, do remember that they will give an additional boost only to your Leaderboard Score and not to your milestone progress.
Join the competition now and win awesome rewards!
