Today in Shanghai, Zynga announced the beta launch of Zynga City, a localized version of our popular game CityVille, through a new partnership with Tencent, China’s leading Internet service. Zynga City beta features all the in-game elements players know and love from CityVille plus brand-new content and game-play inspired by both traditional and pop culture in China. The game will include brand-new decorations including lucky fish fountains and local architecture such as the Temple of Heaven and traditional Shanghai residences that the Chinese audience can identify and connect with. In addition, there will be in-game events and competitions linked to Chinese holidays and news as well as culturally relevant game play such as the ability for players to send street peddlers to their friend’s cities.
Zynga City beta was developed by the Zynga China studio, which designed the brand-new content and game-play uniquely for the Chinese audience. By creating a new version of CityVille for Chinese players, Zynga is now providing a fun way to connect people in China with their family and friends through a game that millions of people across the world are playing.
Zynga City will be operated in China by Tencent and will launch in beta this week for players on Tencent’s Pengyou platform with a wider launch on the main Tencent platform QZone to follow.
